Authorship Policies

At Health Innovation Reports (HIR), authorship carries both credit and responsibility. The journal emphasizes ethical authorship practices to ensure appropriate acknowledgment of individual contributions to published research and to uphold scientific integrity.

Criteria for Authorship

Authorship should be granted only to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Drafting or Critically Revising the article for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval of the version to be published.
  4. Accountability for all aspects of the work and ensuring the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research.

Contributions limited to technical support, data collection, administrative assistance, funding acquisition, or language editing—while valuable—do not qualify for authorship but may be acknowledged separately.

One author, typically the corresponding author, must serve as the guarantor of the work, accepting responsibility for the overall integrity of the research and communication with the journal.

Author Order and Contribution Statements

  • HIR places no limit on the number of authors per manuscript. Large collaborative works are welcome, especially for multidisciplinary research.
  • The order of authorship should be determined collaboratively by all contributors prior to submission. This order should reflect each author’s relative contributions.
  • A clearly labeled “Author Contributions” section must be included in all manuscripts, using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to specify each author’s role (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft, Supervision).
  • In case of disagreements over authorship, authors are expected to resolve the dispute internally before submission. If disputes arise after submission, the Editor-in-Chief may mediate, but only with written agreement from all authors.

Any changes to authorship after submission (including addition, removal, or reordering of authors) must be requested in writing and approved by all co-authors.

Conflict of Interest Declaration

To ensure transparency and uphold ethical standards, all authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research or its presentation.

A dedicated “Conflict of Interest” statement must be placed before the references section in the manuscript and include disclosures related to:

  • Financial support or funding
  • Employment or consultancy roles
  • Patents, royalties, or personal investments
  • Personal, institutional, or ideological affiliations

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:
“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

This declaration must be reviewed and approved by all listed authors before submission.
